What are we to believe?

For those who receive Peter DeHoff’s alleged newsletter, his latest is quite a mix of fiction.  In it, he discusses the construction on Carriage Road and states: “At the September 15th council meeting, the public finally learned something that had been kept from them by state law. Not by accident.

He is discussing the construction of 14 ADU’s being built at 13112 Carriage Road.

Does anyone believe that Poway would allow construction of this magnitude without a permit?

The permit number is B25-0912 for an accessory dwelling unit. It is a privately funded project includes: On an existing (53) unit residential property,

(1) new detached 2-story building (R-2) composed of (8) 2 bedroom/2 bath Accessory Dwelling Units under SB 1211 is proposed. A portion of

an existing parking lot is being replaced by the new units pursuant to California Government Code Section 2 of 66314 (d)(11). It is located at 13130 Carriage PARCEL: 3174901000 and owned by F&F CARRIAGE RD LP Sunshine Permit Service Inc

In May of 2025 the City was aware.  Yet, DeHoff states it was not until September 15, 2026 that the public was made aware.

In 2022 when DeHoff was running for office, he stated “strongly oppose[d] high density development”.  Yet his voting record speaks for itself.

·           He supported the proposed Life Time Fitness project at The Farm in July 2024. The vote was 4–1; Anita Edmondson cast the only “no” vote. Voters later rejected the project in Measure H. (Voice of San Diego, City of Poway’s Measure H analysis)

·           He supported the 60-unit affordable housing project on Monte Vista Road, which Council approved unanimously in November 2024. (City of Poway)

·           He voted yes on the Fairfield II development review in December 2025. (Council meeting record)

Still have questions as to who DeHoff is loyal to?  Look at his 460 form which lists the people who donated to his campaign.  It looks like the Who’s Who of development.  Kevin McNamara, John Mullin, Susan Mullin, William Hinger, Tom Farley, Roop Jain, David Haessig, and Steve Vaus.  All the people who benefit from development.

It is time for a change.  It is time to ensure that the development works for Poway, not just the developers.

I’m offering District 3 an independent voice: one that will listen, ask difficult questions, protect taxpayer resources, and report honestly on proposals and votes. Poway can grow responsibly while preserving the neighborhoods, open space, and character that make it home.

I’d be grateful for your support.

Bob Walder
Candidate for Poway City Council, District 3

Poway deserves an independent voice—not another vote for the mayor.
